Describing the thoughts and feelings over these last two weeks is challenging, to say the least. A house fire is one of those things that you always think will never happen to you. It’s such a surreal experience that we are still trying to fully process our new reality. Having gone through this trauma, we should be feeling despondent and defeated. In every right, we should be miserable and yet, we find ourselves optimistic with smiles on our faces looking toward the future. There is one clear cause of our positive outlook: this extraordinary community.
Words fall short when we attempt to describe the unwavering kindness, support and generosity of the La Conner community. The way that people dropped everything without hesitation to help our family, has truly been something astonishing to behold.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to the entire La Conner community, as well as the five fire departments that responded so quickly to our call: La Conner, McLean, District 13, Anacortes and Mount Vernon.
We have always referred to La Conner as “paradise” and this experience has proven that. We would never want to find ourselves anywhere else. Thank you La Conner so much for everything you have done and continue to do to support our family.
