The August primary election is here. Ballots will be mailed by Friday, July 19.
Last week, Skagit County voters received the county’s official local voter’s pamphlet, mailed by the county elections office. Voters will choose candidates for the Nov. 5 elections for a U.S. senator, Congressional District 2 representative, 11 statewide offices for governor through insurance commissioner and a state supreme court justice.
La Conner area voters reside in state legislative district 10. The senate seat and LD 10 Position 1 are contested. Candidates in two-person races will be on the November ballot. In November, all voters will choose county commissioners for districts 1 and 2. In August, area voters are restricted to District 1 candidates.
A metropolitan park district having the same boundaries as the Anacortes School District will be voted on by residents of that school district. Three of five park commissioners will be elected and take office if the district is approved.
The online voter registration deadline is July 30: Mailed-in registrations must be received by July 30. Registration in person is an option through 8 p.m. Aug. 6 at the election office in Mount Vernon.
Ballots must be returned to county drop boxes or postmarked by 8 p.m. Aug. 6. Local drop boxes are at 614 Morris St., La Conner, and 17337 Reservation Road, at the Swinomish social services building.
