Nonprofits: Apply for grants tapping tourist tax funds for your projects

Skagit Valley arts and cultural nonprofit organizations can request funding from the Town of La Conner Hotel/Motel tax fund for 2025.

In 2023 5The La Conner Town Council granted $34,650 to nine community organizations and another $90,000 to the La Conner Chamber of Commerce. Over $217,450 was allocated for internal, Town projects, primarily Maple Hall improvements, the Morris and First street restrooms and landscaping.

Last year hotel/motel tax revenues were $195,784. The 2024 budget projects $140,000, though that may be a conservative estimate. Through July, the state Department of Revenue reported $90,000 came in. Another $60,000 may be collected this year if tourism continues the spending trend of the last month.

What is certain is that area organizations have the opportunity to submit proposals for larger grants than many have requested in years past.

Requests must be received (not postmarked) at La Conner Town Hall, 204 Douglas, PO Box 400, La Conner 98257 by Sept. 9 at 3:30 p.m.

The 2025 Lodging Tax Fund Request for Proposal will be found on the Town website under the Finance Department at http://www.townoflaconner.org.

Questions: Maria DeGoede, Finance Director, [email protected], 360.466-3125.
