County sets agritourism public hearing for Sept. 9

The Skagit County Commissioners will host a hearing at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, on a moratorium on new permits for event venues on Skagit County agricultural land.

The moratorium clarified that permissible tourism-related activity on Skagit farmland does not include permanent businesses that conduct large events, such as weddings and concerts.

This hearing will take public comment only on the moratorium and existing business activities and enforcement. The board will consider a permanent ordinance later.

The public can comment in person in the Commissioner’s Hearing Room, 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon, or via Zoom. Meeting links are available on the Commissioner’s webpage. Written comments must include names and addresses and will be accepted through 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at [email protected] or by mail to 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
