Fall is definitely in the air! The kids are back in school, the weather is getting cooler and the leaves are starting to change color; all signs that the season is turning and it’s time to curl up with a good book from the library. Fall is also a season of change for the library, with Katryna retiring. We will miss her a great deal, as she has truly been the heart of our library and has touched the lives of so many in our community. We wish her the best and hope she comes back to visit often.
We say hello to our newest employee, Jinda, who some of you may know from Seaport Books or Two Moons Gallery. We hope you stop by to welcome her to the library!
We are also saying goodbye to board members who are both stepping down to pursue other interests. If you are interested in serving on the library board, please stop by to pick up an application packet.
Many of you know that La Conner Swinomish Library has teamed up with other libraries to allow our patrons to check out books from the other Skagit County libraries. What many people do not realize is that this also means that if we don’t have a book or resource you want in our library, we can get it delivered here for you from the Burlington, Sedro-Woolley or Concrete libraries and when you finish the book, you can simply return it to La Conner. Mount Vernon and Anacortes are not yet part of the book transit system but will be on board within the next year or so. Books and materials can still be checked out from these libraries with a La Conner Swinomish card, you just have to travel to those libraries to get the books.
