Workshop didn't plan for hearing

I was so looking forward to learning more about the proposed revitalization of the industrial dead zone at the south end of town. I had submitted my two bits on the town survey and had great expectations. However, the turnout was not impressive and the acoustics in the room seemed to absorb the presenter’s voice. Granted, my hearing is impaired, but others also raised their hands stating they could not hear him. There was no microphone available. Unable to hear, I left.

Perhaps I am unfairly comparing this event to the recent one at the Civic Garden Club regarding saving this inestimable newspaper, with twice the turnout and two microphones circulating. Granted, the fate of the La Conner Weekly News is right here now, in our face, with a December deadline and the Moore Clark thing is just in a planning stage which is projected to last two years.

Anyway, few chairs on hand and no mic: was there an expectation of a small turnout? Why then were 10 presenters on hand? Dast I inquire how much this endeavor cost the town?

Regardless of my disappointment at the “workshop,” which I admittedly bailed on, I urge you to go to the town’s website and participate in the survey regarding the Moore Clark Subarea Plan.

I look forward to hearing more about the workshop I left in frustration.
