This debut novel takes the reader into the life of Ever Geimausaddle, whose family, part Mexican and part Native American, is determined to hold onto their community despite the obstacles they face everywhere they turn. His father is injured by a corrupt police officer and his mother struggles to keep her job and care for her husband; young Ever is lost and angry at the world that seems to undermine his sense of safety and his relatives all have ideas about who he is and who he should be.
